    Might the officer in the photograph possibly be George H Simpson-Hayward? He was commissioned into the 4th Ox and Bucks in January 1915 and would likely be involved with army sports teams because he had been a footballer and was a cricketer for Worcestershire who toured S Africa with the MCC in 1909-10. He was famously one of the last of the under-arm bowlers or ‘lobsters’. I know from a contemporary newspaper that he skippered a 2/4th Ox & Bucks cricket side in a match at Epiing in July 1915.
