  1. I can find no record of his birth being in Cowley other than the Cambridge War Memorial entries. Census and birth records show his birthplace as Cambridge where his father was born and grandparents lived and ran a grocers shop. Just to confuse things his medal card is under the name Jaspar Q Plump and gives his regiment as the 6th Ox & Bucks Lt Infantry but given the inaccuracy of the name this can probably be disregarded. He is remembered on his mother’s grave in Histon Road cemetery, Cambridge.
